This project removed and replaced three 500 BHP, high-pressure steam boilers and associated equipment to include the DA tank, condensate tank and flash tank located in the central energy plant. In addition, all ancillary piping systems, controls, pumps, valves and other devices were replaced with state-of-the-art equipment and materials with the intention of providing the highest levels of reliability and efficiency
New boilers were sized to meet the requirement for existing and planned loads so that the plant runs as efficiently as possible. Boilers, DA tank and condensate tank safety devices adhered to standards for safety device testing established by the VA and detailed in the Technical Information Library specifications and Boiler Plant Safety Device Testing Manual (third edition).
